Based on forecasts from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), waves are expected to reach about four meters on the northern coast, gradually decreasing to between 2.5 and 3 meters towards the south.
The regional maritime authority added that visibility at sea in the archipelago will be “good to moderate.”
Regarding the wind, it will blow “moderate to fresh (20 to 39 kilometers per hour), weakening to light to moderate by late afternoon, and becoming light to gentle by the end of the day.”
The Harbor Master’s Office also reinforced the recommendations to the entire maritime community and the general public to take precautions, including securing and monitoring docked and anchored vessels, avoiding walks in exposed maritime areas, and refraining from leisure fishing.
