The captaincy of the Port of Funchal today extended the warnings of sea turbulence and strong winds until 18:00 on Saturday based on the forecasts of the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere

According to the regional maritime authority, the wind may be strong and visibility at sea “good to moderate”.

As for the swell, on the north coast the waves will be between four and six meters, with four meters on the south side.

Due to this weather situation, the captaincy recommends that the entire maritime community and the population in general take care, both when preparing to go to sea and when at sea or in coastal areas.

The instructions include strengthening mooring and close monitoring of moored and anchored boats, avoiding walks by the sea or in areas exposed to sea waves and not practicing recreational fishing, especially near cliffs and cliff areas frequently hit by breaking waves.
