The harbor master’s office, based on forecasts from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), has indicated wave heights up to four meters along the northern coast and around three meters in the southern part.
The wind is expected to blow “fresh to very fresh (40-50 kilometers per hour), becoming moderate” with visibility ranging from “good to moderate.”
The regional maritime authority has issued a warning advising “the entire maritime community and the general public to exercise caution both when preparing to go to sea and when already at sea or in coastal areas.”
Recommendations include reinforcing the mooring and maintaining vigilant surveillance of docked and anchored vessels, avoiding walking near the sea or in areas exposed to sea agitation, and refraining from engaging in leisure fishing activities.
