Following a municipal executive meeting, Cristina Pedra, the president of the local municipality (PSD/CDS-PP), announced that Funchal will now handle judicial processes from Santa Cruz residents, in addition to those from Câmara de Lobos.
Santa Cruz closed its Peace Court, citing low attendance as the reason behind the decision.
“Citizens are left unprotected, and at our Funchal Peace Court, we are able to accommodate these cases without any additional costs to the municipal treasury,” emphasized the mayor.
The municipal executive approved the draft of the agreement today, which is expected to be signed with the Ministry of Justice shortly.
