Galp reduces energy costs by 4% on the electricity bill and by 14% on the natural gas bill.

An official from Galp announced that there will be a price update for electricity and natural gas, with average decreases of 4% and 14%, respectively, in terms of supplier (fixed term and energy), meaning in the parts of the invoice that depend on it.

This decision, they explained, “follows the reduction in energy prices on the markets” and will take effect from the beginning of January.

Considering that the proposal for electricity tariffs from the Energy Services Regulatory Entity (ERSE) for 2026 foresees an average increase of 3% for the update of network access tariffs—the final value will be disclosed by December 15—Galp’s estimates suggest the real impact will be an average decrease of about 1% on the final electricity bill, equivalent to an average reduction of 30 cents.

For natural gas, the reductions communicated by the company already include the network access tariffs in force, which will not change in January (the gas year does not correspond to the calendar year), maintaining the full 14% decrease corresponding to an average reduction of 2.84 euros on the monthly bill.

According to the proposal presented by ERSE on October 15, for consumers in low voltage, which includes households, the variation of network access tariffs will imply an increase of 3%.

In the liberalized market, the variation of the final price depends on network access tariffs and the energy component, acquired by each supplier in the wholesale markets, plus the respective commercial margin, which in the case of EDP Comercial will have the announced reduction of 4%.
