
At the conclusion of the military ceremony marking the 51st anniversary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces in Vila Viçosa, Évora district, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa emphasized that the new labor law requires further steps.
“It makes sense to be discussed in social concertation, it makes sense to be discussed with the parties,” said the head of state to journalists, noting that “the matter is still at an early stage.”
The President of the Republic pointed out that the country must wait for the process to be concluded, predicting that this government proposal “will only be discussed in parliament at the end of this year, probably only next year.”
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa also highlighted that the vote on the State Budget proposal for 2026 ends at the end of this month.
The general secretary of the CGTP announced a general strike for December 11, on Saturday, at the end of the national march against the labor package in Lisbon.
