Glória Elevator. Carneiro accuses Moedas of not taking care of the families.

José Luís Carneiro addressed the signing ceremony for the commitments of the 18 Socialist Party candidates for the local authorities in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, criticizing the “insensitivity and indifference” of those leading the country as well as the Lisbon City Hall.

“If we remember that there were people who claimed before the entire national community that they were taking care of the families affected by the tragic accident witnessed in Lisbon, and later find out that, after all, there were families who were not even contacted and did not even have the opportunity to approach municipal services to seek compensation, if any compensation can be constituted at all,” he stated, in a criticism directed at Carlos Moedas.

Meanwhile, Alexandra Leitão, the Socialist Party’s candidate leading the Viver Lisboa coalition, noted that the “current President of Lisbon City Hall speaks of chaos.”

“Indeed, there is chaos in Lisbon, but it is not caused by the so-called ‘skirted Che Guevara,'” she joked, referencing a comment previously made by Basílio Horta, the Mayor of Sintra.

Alexandra Leitão pointed out that “the chaos in Lisbon is the chaos of trash piling on sidewalks, dirty streets, cracked pavements, abandoned gardens, and a city left in darkness.”

“It is the chaos of an urban hygiene system in collapse, with rats and cockroaches invading the city’s most prestigious areas, overflowing trash bins, and public spaces that embarrass Lisbon’s residents and deter visitors,” she condemned.
