GNR arrested 584 people, mostly for driving under the influence of alcohol

In a statement released today, the GNR (National Republican Guard) reports that between August 2 and 8, they arrested 584 people, including 289 for driving under the influence of alcohol, 112 for driving without a legal license, 32 for drug trafficking, 18 for theft and robbery, and 13 for illegal possession of weapons and prohibited weapons. According to the GNR, nine people were also arrested for domestic violence.

Among the seizures, notable items include nearly 6,000 doses of cocaine, about 1,200 doses of heroin, more than 7,000 doses of hashish, over 100 doses of marijuana, and nearly 100 doses of MDMA.

The GNR also seized 40 firearms, 38 bladed or prohibited weapons, 207 rounds of ammunition, 23 vehicles, and more than 112,000 euros.

Regarding traffic violations, 7,123 infractions were detected, including 2,940 for speeding, 737 for lack of mandatory periodic inspection, 609 for driving with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit, 196 for improper use of mobile phones while driving, and 202 for failure to use or incorrect use of seat belts and/or child restraint systems.

The GNR operations, carried out throughout the national territory, aimed not only at preventing and combating crime and road accidents but also at enforcing various administrative offenses.
