The Setúbal Territorial Command of the GNR reported that the incident took place on Tuesday when “an off-duty military officer was informed of a robbery occurring at a supermarket involving a knife.”
“With support from another officer, both proceeded to the scene and detained the suspect,” the statement added.
According to the GNR, in addition to the suspect’s arrest, “a kitchen knife used to carry out the robbery” was seized.
On Wednesday, the detainee was brought before the Santiago do Cacém Judicial Court for the initial judicial interrogation, resulting in the imposition of preventive detention as a coercive measure.
