GNR Association demands that the remuneration statute come into effect in 2026

During ongoing meetings since September between Maria Lúcia Amaral and the unions of the PSP and associations of the GNR, APG emerged without any assurances. The minister, however, committed to presenting a proposal on salary tables, career paths, supplement revisions, and health and safety at work by November 28.

César Nogueira stated that these topics were agreed upon in a July 2024 agreement, which outlined a phased increase in the risk supplement by 300 euros until 2026. The negotiations are exclusively with the PSP unions and GNR associations that signed the document.

The leader emphasized that APG’s main demand is the immediate negotiation of the remuneration statute, a document that hasn’t been reviewed for the GNR since 2009.

César Nogueira asserts that this revision should occur next year, and the new remuneration statute should apply retroactively to January 2026.

The president of the largest GNR association conveyed this demand to the minister, who provided no guarantee.

He noted that due to the lack of revision for 16 years, some military personnel have already lost between 150 to 200 euros monthly, unable to progress further in their current career paths.

In this first round of meetings between the minister and the PSP and GNR bodies, concluding on November 24, most of the unions and associations, especially those not signing the government agreement, have expressed dissatisfaction.
