A 43-year-old man was arrested on Thursday in Vila Velha de Ródão after evading justice for more than three years. He was wanted under an outstanding arrest warrant, according to a statement from the GNR.
The arrest warrant mandated the fulfillment of an active prison sentence of one year and nine months, resulting from a conviction for driving without a legal license, with the ruling finalized in February 2022.
The arrest occurred during a criminal prevention operation where the GNR officers successfully located the individual.
The GNR reported that the man has a criminal record involving offenses such as robbery, theft, fraud, drug trafficking, and disobedience.
Following his arrest, the man was transferred to Castelo Branco prison to serve his sentence.
The operation was executed by the Criminal Investigation Unit of Castelo Branco, with support from the Environmental Protection Unit of the Vila Velha de Ródão Territorial Post and the Castelo Branco Intervention Unit.
