A 25-year-old man has been charged with aggravated theft after authorities found 23,688 euros in cash and equipment used to commit the crime during a house search, the GNR highlighted in a statement.
Following the theft at an automotive repair and maintenance shop, the Criminal Investigation Unit (NIC) of Albufeira of the GNR initiated an investigation that led to the man’s identification and launched an operation for his arrest, which was carried out on Thursday, the police force specified.
“During the operation, a house search was conducted, resulting in the suspect’s arrest and the seizure and recovery of various materials,” the security force emphasized in the statement from the Territorial Command of Faro.
The material found and seized included 23,688 euros and a precision drill, a tool that, according to the GNR, was “used in the commission of the crime.”
The detained individual is set to appear before the Albufeira Judicial Court for an initial judicial interrogation and the possible application of coercive measures, the GNR further noted.
