Two men, both aged 50, were detained by the National Republican Guard (GNR) on Tuesday on suspicion of drug trafficking in Almada. A third man, aged 29, was also arrested after attempting to assault the officers.
In a statement released on Thursday, the GNR explained that the arrests took place during a “patrol operation carried out in Monte da Caparica,” where the officers “witnessed a direct transaction of narcotic products.”
The officers then “approached the two suspects,” and one of them “attempted to flee on foot” but was “promptly intercepted and apprehended.”
During the intervention, a “third individual approached and attempted to assault the officers,” and was subsequently arrested for resisting and coercing an official.
The GNR also conducted a house search, resulting in the seizure of 209.7 doses of cannabis resin, 62.3 doses of MDMA, 46.8 doses of heroin, 24.2 doses of cocaine, 241 packs of tobacco, and €3,318.54 in cash.
Additionally, two knives used for cutting the narcotics, an air gun, a speargun, seven mobile phones, and two precision scales were confiscated.
The detainees were named as defendants, and the facts were reported to the Almada Judicial Court. The operation was supported by the Almada Criminal Investigation Unit (NIC).
