GNR detects more than 350 infringements in goods transport

As part of Operation “Tributo IV,” aimed at monitoring and controlling goods at the national level with emphasis on main roadways, the GNR conducted several actions to detect, prevent, and suppress tax-related infractions and fraud.

The operation involved 148 officers and 52 vehicles, during which 1,247 vehicles and their occupants were inspected, resulting in the detection of 354 infractions.

The GNR issued 175 fines under the Goods in Circulation Regime (RBC), primarily for lack of transport documents and/or inaccuracies or omissions in transport documents.

Additionally, 162 fines were issued under road traffic legislation, 10 for lack of mandatory periodic inspection, five customs fines related to Vehicle Tax (ISV), one related to Tobacco Tax (IT), and one for a VAT Code violation.

During the operation, officers seized 1,300 cigarettes and five vehicles that were in irregular situations.

The GNR noted that the operation focused on the control of transport documents and invoicing under the RBC and goods subject to Special Consumption Taxes (IEC), specifically the Petroleum and Energy Products Tax (ISP), Tobacco Tax (IT), Alcohol and Alcoholic Beverages Tax (IABA), and Value Added Tax (VAT).

Concurrently, activities were also conducted to regularize the status of foreign-registered vehicles in circulation within the national territory.

The operation was supported by additional officers from the Territorial Commands of Viana do Castelo, Coimbra, Santarém, Évora, Faro, the National Traffic Unit, and the Intervention Unit.
