GNR has already carried out 336 actions related to ‘bullying’ this school year.

The GNR reports that in the past academic year (2024/2025), 119 incidents were recorded, 106 of which were related to bullying and 13 to cyberbullying.

During the 2024/2025 academic year, the Guard conducted a total of 1,537 activities aimed at 55,108 children and young people, primarily in educational settings.

According to provisional data from the Guardia, these activities covered several of the 4,604 public and private educational institutions under GNR’s responsibility.

The GNR aims to alert and raise awareness among the general public, particularly children and young people, toward a “strategy of awareness, which aims to contribute to changing societal behaviors and to gradually increasing social intolerance to violence in schools.”

In the note, the GNR highlights that bullying involves “a series of acts that describe intentional and repeated acts of physical or psychological violence, carried out by one or more persons in the context of an unequal power relationship, causing pain and anguish to the victim(s).”

The Guard warns that currently, with the advent of new technologies, particularly social media, bullying has evolved, giving rise to the virtual aspect of cyberbullying.

The GNR reminds that the signs can be silent and advises parents, teachers, and caregivers to watch for changes in mood, physical and/or psychological distress, signs of impatience or anxiety, persistent physical complaints (such as headaches, stomachaches, sleep disturbances, bruising), extreme irritability, or any other behavioral changes.

“Although bullying is not classified as a crime under criminal law, it is associated with several offenses, such as physical injury, insults, threats, and coercion, with the first two being the most common behaviors,” according to the Guard.
