On April 17 in Porto, the Public Security Police (PSP) detained a 23-year-old man for assault with a bladed weapon.
In a statement released on Monday, the police force reported that on Av. de Rodrigues de Freitas, they discovered a 38-year-old victim lying on the ground with stab wounds.
The suspect, an Algerian national and construction worker, attempted to flee but was pursued by a National Republican Guard (GNR) soldier, who intercepted him 300 meters from the crime scene and recovered the weapon used. The suspect was handed over to the PSP under arrest.
“The victim received first aid at the scene and was transported to the hospital due to severe injuries,” the statement adds.
The suspect, who also sustained injuries, was transported to the hospital for treatment.
The detainee appeared before the competent Judicial Authority and was remanded in custody.
