The Territorial Command of Faro, through the Faro Traffic Detachment, announced that over the weekend, it conducted a traffic enforcement operation targeting dangerous maneuvers and road acrobatics performed in public spaces in the Algarve region.
This operation resulted in the seizure of 20 vehicles, including eight motorcycles, and the issuance of 55 road traffic fines in accordance with the Highway Code and supplementary legislation.
Three fines were issued for lack of required periodic inspections, and others were issued for tire irregularities, along with two fines for insufficient legal authorization to drive.
The operations involved gatherings of car and motorcycle drivers in public areas with the intention of performing maneuvers and acrobatics.
These gatherings, according to the GNR, “pose a risk to the physical integrity of the participants themselves, other road users, and third parties who come to these locations to watch.”
The action was supported by the Intervention Detachment (DI) of the Faro Territorial Command.
The GNR states it will remain vigilant to this phenomenon and will continue to conduct prevention and enforcement actions in regional locations associated with these practices to “ensure the safety of all citizens and the preservation of public order.”
