A member of the National Republican Guard (GNR) suffered serious injuries on Saturday morning while accompanying the Rally of Portugal in Cabeceiras de Basto. This information was confirmed by the emergency coordinator of the Red Cross in Arco do Baúlhe, Sérgio Nunes, to Notícias ao Minuto.
The incident involved a collision between the GNR officer’s motorcycle and a light vehicle on National Road 210.
Due to the severity of his injuries, the officer was transported to São João Hospital in Porto.
The alert was received at 9:47 a.m.
Emergency response at the scene included the Arco do Baúlhe Red Cross with an ambulance and crew member, the Cabeceirenses Volunteer Firefighters, the Guimarães Emergency Medical and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER), and the GNR.
