The Guarda Nacional Republicana, in collaboration with Pingo Doce, is set to distribute 1,800 summer-specific hampers to elderly individuals identified by ‘Operation Senior Census’.
The hamper includes fruit pouches, moisturizing cream, cereal bars, and bottles of water, to be delivered during GNR visits to these elderly individuals. During these visits, officers will also advise this vulnerable age group on precautions during extreme heatwaves.
The Guarda Nacional Republicana regards this partnership, now in its third consecutive year, as “a fundamental pillar in GNR’s commitment to protecting the most vulnerable, especially during summer.”
Since the project’s inception, more than 10,000 hampers have been delivered to the elderly, in an effort to combat not only food insecurity but also the isolation and loneliness affecting this segment of the population.
