The prices of fuels are set to decrease at the beginning of next week, although slightly, according to forecasts released this Friday by the Automóvel Club de Portugal (ACP).
The price of diesel is expected to drop by two cents per liter, while gasoline is predicted to decrease by 0.5 cents per liter.
If the forecasts for the week of December 8 to 14 are confirmed, the average price per liter of simple diesel will be 1.572 euros, while that of simple 95 gasoline will decrease to 1.699 euros.
These daily average prices are, it should be noted, “calculated based on the prices reported by fuel stations, weighted with the quantities sold in the last known period, incorporating the discounts practiced at fueling stations like fleet cards and others.”
Government Reduced Fuel Tax Discount
It should also be remembered that the Government reduced, last week, the discount in force on the Tax on Petroleum Products (ISP), applicable to unleaded gasoline and road diesel.
According to an ordinance published on Friday, November 28, in the evening in the Diário da República – and which came into force the following Monday – the ISP rate applicable, on the mainland, to gasoline with a lead content equal to or less than 0.013 grams per liter changed to 497.52 euros per 1,000 liters, compared to the current 481.26 euros.
Meanwhile, the ISP rate applicable to diesel increased from the current 337.21 euros to 361.60 euros per 1,000 liters.

The Government reduced the discount in effect on the Tax on Petroleum Products (ISP), applicable to unleaded gasoline and road diesel, negating part of the anticipated drop in fuel prices for the next week.
