At the end of a lively event highlighted by a group of drummers in Barcelos, Braga district, Gouveia e Melo called for the “collective effort” of the Portuguese people.
“I wanted to convey, especially since it’s a beautiful sunny day, a message of hope. I believe that Portugal has all the conditions to prosper, despite the international situation, despite some uncertainty. The only thing that separates us from this prosperity is our collective effort. I would like to call on the Portuguese to make this collective effort for our own benefit, the Portuguese,” he emphasized.
Regarding the State Budget for 2026, he predicted that it will “in principle” be approved, highlighting it as “a stability factor for the country.”
On health, he reiterated the need for a solution “that gives confidence to the Portuguese.”
“Sometimes, solutions take some time to implement, but a genuine solution must be found and not temporary solutions (…) that somehow try to mask more serious problems that are not being resolved,” he added.
