At the end of a lively walk accompanied by a drum group in Barcelo, Braga district, Gouveia e Melo called for the “collective effort” of the Portuguese people.
“I wanted to share with you, especially since it’s a beautiful sunny day, a message of hope. I believe that Portugal has all the conditions to thrive, despite the international situation, despite some uncertainty. The only thing separating us from that prosperity is our collective effort. I would like to call on the Portuguese to make this collective effort for our own benefit,” he emphasized.
Regarding the State Budget for 2026, he predicted that it will “in principle” be approved, highlighting it as “a factor of stability for the country.”
On health issues, he reiterated the need for a solution “that gives the Portuguese people confidence.”
“Sometimes, solutions take some time to implement, but a true solution must be found, not temporary solutions (…) that, in some way, try to mask more severe problems that remain unresolved,” he further stated.
