The Ministry of Health, led by Ana Paula Martins, announced it has received the final report from the Independent Technical Commission (CTI) on the reform of the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), which identified “structural failures” within the institute.
“The Government guarantees that by the end of January 2026, it will approve the Decree-Law establishing the new structure and organization of INEM, ensuring a robust, transparent model fully aligned with the best international practices,” the statement highlighted.
In this process, the Ministry of Health aims to consult political forces represented in parliament, paying special attention to the Socialist Party, following a letter sent by its Secretary-General, emphasizing the importance of broad consensus for the structural reform of the medical emergency system.
