The government today authorized an expenditure of around 19.7 million euros for the purchase of flu vaccines for the 2023/2024 flu season, according to a decree published today in the Official Gazette.
In accordance with the resolution of the Council of Ministers, the five regional health administrations (Lisbon and Tagus Valley, North, Centre, Algarve and Alentejo) may now purchase these vaccines for a total value of 19,745,375.00 euros, plus value-added tax at the current statutory rate.
The dispatch states that the charges resulting from the acquisition may not exceed approximately 7.4 million euros in the Northern Regional Health Administration (ARS), approximately 3.9 million euros in the Central ARS, approximately 7.3 million euros in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley ARS, approximately 407 thousand euros in the Alentejo ARS and 803 thousand euros in the Algarve ARS.
“The financial charges resulting from this resolution shall be paid in full in 2023, being covered by the appropriate sums entered in the budgets of the entities concerned,” reads the Council of Ministers’ resolution.
