A regulation change regarding the national support program for the beekeeping sector, part of the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy (PEPAC), is underway.
In addition to recognized honey sector producer organizations and associations and cooperatives, beekeepers who are association members and own at least 750 hives can now benefit from this support.
Eligible expenses for this support include services or equipment rental costs related to hive transhumance operations.
This includes transportation, cranes, trailers, lifting platforms, and palletization equipment for hives.
The maximum support limit is 10,000 euros per beneficiary for producer organizations and associations, and 5,000 euros for individual beekeepers.
For associations and cooperatives, the support level is 40% of eligible expenses, which can go up to 90%, “based on the adjustment needs identified in relation to budget availability, with a maximum support of 40,000 euros.”
The regulation, signed by the Minister of Agriculture and the Sea, José Manuel Fernandes, will take effect on Thursday and apply starting from the 2026 beekeeping year.
