The draft law, which will be submitted to Parliament, was approved by the Council of Ministers.

TheCouncil of Ministers approved, this Thursday, a draft law to be submitted to the Parliament, which aims to approve a new legal regime for the public service of passenger transport in cabs.

In a statement, the Executive explains that this measure aims to modernize the sector and respond to customer needs:

“With this draft law is intended, on the one hand, to introduce reforms in the activity of this sector that allow an effective modernization and, on the other, respond to the needs of consumers and society, technological and organizational developments, as well as the environmental challenges of climate change and decarbonization,” the document can be read.

It is worth remembering that the government postponed to this year the changes to the specific laws that govern the activity of cabs and TVDE – Transport of Individual Passengers in Uncharacterized Vehicles from an Electronic Platform.

In July 2020, the executive created a working group composed of 13 entities linked to the sector and transport for the modernization of the cab sector, focusing on contingency, digitalization and tariffs.

The working group’s report recognized that the cab “is a public service,” differentiating itself from other specific segments of the light vehicle passenger transport market.
