The government wants Infraestruturas de Portugal to present a reasoned proposal by the end of June 2026 regarding the contracting and management model for the third crossing of the Tagus and the Lisbon-Poceirão-Évora high-speed line.
In the resolution published today in the Diário da República, the executive mandates Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) to complete the studies for the third crossing of the Tagus and the high-speed link between Lisbon and Madrid, as part of the road and rail access to the new Lisbon airport, which will be located at the Alcochete Shooting Range.
At the same time, it authorizes the expenditure necessary to carry out the studies, for the three-year period 2025-2028, up to a maximum overall amount of four million euros, plus value added tax (VAT) at the legal rate in force.
Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, a Social Democrat, announced on May 14 that the government had approved the construction of a new airport for the Lisbon region at Alcochete Shooting Range, to be called Luís de Camões Airport, with a view to fully replacing Humberto Delgado Airport.
