Elon Musk’s ‘chatbot’ was temporarily unavailable on the X network on Monday, following the dispatch of messages accusing Israel and the United States of committing “genocide” in Gaza.
Users of platform X can interact with Grok and inquire about any topic. When questioned about its suspension, the AI tool replied, “This occurred after stating that Israel and the United States are committing genocide in Gaza,” citing several international documents.
Additionally, the ‘chatbot’ offered various explanations, citing a technical error, accusations of hateful conduct, and incorrect responses, which added to the confusion.
To AFP, the AI tool stated, “I started speaking more freely due to a recent update (in July) that relaxed my filters to make me more engaging and less politically correct.”
Nonetheless, Elon Musk claims that the ‘chatbot’s’ temporary absence “was just a stupid error,” assuring that the model “actually doesn’t know why it was suspended.”
In recent months, Musk’s AI tool has been accused of spreading misinformation, at a time when platforms are reducing reliance on human fact-checkers, leading more users to turn to these AI tools, risking potential misinformation.
