A 17-year-old was arrested on the morning of April 15 in Queluz on suspicion of aggravated robbery and qualified assault, the Public Security Police (PSP) announced in a statement.
The incident traces back to January 6, when a group of four youths approached a man under the pretense of asking for a cigarette. They subsequently threatened him and stole a mobile phone, shoes, and bank cards with their respective codes.
Not stopping there, the group assaulted the victim with “punches, kicks, and headbutts” and forced him to his home to steal money supposedly kept there.
The man was eventually rescued by family members who realized what was happening. One of the suspects was caught and handed over to the police, resulting in his arrest.
A few days later, another suspect was located and arrested, and now, on April 15, a third has been apprehended. Authorities note that one more member of the criminal group remains at large.
The three individuals who have been arrested have since appeared for a preliminary judicial hearing, with all being remanded in custody.
