The Cine Incrível will serve as the venue for a series of concerts, opening with a performance by the Mozes Rosenberg Trio. The guitarist trio has previously showcased their talents at events such as the Jazz Marathon in Hong Kong and the Sicilia Jazz Festival in Italy.
The Netherlands-based Mozes Rosenberg Trio is set to perform this Friday at 9:30 p.m.
The following day, at the same time, French violinist and guitarist Favino Lorier, who hails from the Manouche Gypsy community of Alsace-Lorraine, will take the stage. This ethnic group includes the renowned guitarist Django Reinhardt (1910-1953), who pioneered this jazz style characterized by ‘swing’ and infused with Gypsy musical traditions.
Favino Lorier, described by the Alma Danada association as representing the new generation of musicians inspired by Django Reinhardt, is noted for his deep immersion in the authentic Sinti tradition, which is now seldom heard.
Favino’s discography includes the albums ‘Nuages’ (2011), ‘Favino’ (2013), ‘Rhythm Future Quartet’ (2014), ‘Travels’ (2016), and ‘Isotope’ (2019).
The Pompadelic Swing Orchestra, featuring the manouche guitar as its principal instrument, will perform on Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
Founded in 2023, the orchestra debuted at the Magos da Guitarra Festival in Lamego and released its first single, ‘Fleche d’Or,’ last year. During the festival in Almada, they will debut their first Extended Play (EP).
On the same Sunday, a dance class will take place at 3:30 p.m. in the same venue. It is organized by the Escola Blues & Swing Lisboa, which specializes in “vintage dances”.
The Manouche Festival of Almada held its initial event in 2021, followed by its first official edition in May 2022.
Last year’s festival reportedly drew approximately 600 spectators, as stated by the organizers.
