A gathering of approximately 500 people took place today at Eduardo VII Park in Lisbon to celebrate Ukraine’s Independence Day, attended by the Ukrainian Ambassador, who expressed gratitude for Portugal’s support for the war-torn country.
The event featured thank-you banners for Portugal, along with a sign stating, “The only path to peace is Ukraine’s victory.”
The estimated 500 demonstrators, according to police sources, then marched down Avenida da Liberdade, chanting liberation slogans and the Ukrainian salute “Slava Ukraini.”
The Ukrainian Ambassador to Portugal, Maryna Mykhailenko, expressed gratitude for the Portuguese government’s support during her remarks to reporters, but emphasized that more needs to be done.
