He entered the ‘ex’s house through the skylight and threatened her with a knife. He was arrested.

A 20-year-old man was apprehended by the Public Security Police (PSP) on the night of August 3 in Marinha Grande for committing a domestic violence crime against his former partner, aged 24, and has been remanded in custody, officials announced on Tuesday.

The Leiria District Command of the PSP stated that it was the victim who reached out to the police after noticing that her former partner “was on one of the skylights of the roof of her residence, intending to enter the property.”

Upon arrival, PSP officers found the victim in the building’s entrance hall in a state of panic. Earlier that day, around 1:00 PM, the suspect had managed to enter the victim’s room through an open skylight, “suggesting they go for a walk.”

After she refused, the man “grabbed her neck with both hands and then threatened her with a knife, pressing it against her neck and cheek.” The victim’s landlord, “alerted by the noise and screams,” went to the apartment, prompting the suspect to flee.

Later that night, following the victim’s alert, officers found the suspect near the skylight, “immediately detaining him and taking him to the detention rooms of the station.”

The detained individual was presented for a preliminary judicial hearing on Tuesday and was remanded in preventive custody, being subsequently transported to the Leiria Prison Facility, the statement noted.

The PSP reported that the man has a criminal record for the same type of crime against the victim.
