A man suspected of producing, possessing, and sharing content involving the abuse and sexual exploitation of minors was arrested on Wednesday in the Lisbon metropolitan area.
During the arrest, conducted under the execution of a home search warrant, the Judicial Police (PJ) discovered “thousands of illegal files containing images and videos depicting children, aged between 0 and 17 years, engaged in sexual acts with adults.”
“During the operation, it was found that the detainee had easy access to his nieces and nephews, with one victim identified as his niece,” the authorities detailed in a statement released to the press this Thursday.
The PJ seized several computer devices, identified the location where the abuses occurred, and found that the individual shared the files “with third parties using the messaging application Telegram.”
The man will appear today for an initial judicial interrogation, during which the preventive measures will be communicated to him.
