A man was arrested early Wednesday for drug trafficking, an operation he carried out using his car in Lisbon.
The Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the Public Security Police had been “gathering information” that a 35-year-old suspect was traveling to the Martim Moniz area “in his personal vehicle and, through it, made deliveries of various narcotics, from amphetamines to cocaine, through direct sales to the final consumer.”
Authorities reported that when the suspect noticed their presence, he would leave the area.
The methodical deliveries covered a certain range of action, practically spanning the metropolitan area of Lisbon, allowing the suspect to rapidly generate economic gains.
“The deliveries were methodical and covered a certain range of action, practically spanning the metropolitan area of Lisbon, allowing the suspect to rapidly generate economic gains,” the report states.
Based on this information, the authorities launched an operation in which they were able to “corner the driver/suspect and intercept, in flagrante delicto, in possession of the drugs, which he desperately tried to dispose of, but this action was fruitless.”
As a result of the operation, 392 doses of cocaine, 86 doses of ecstasy, 544 doses of methamphetamines, two precision digital scales, 620 euros in cash, and various drug packaging paraphernalia were seized. The vehicle in which the suspect conducted his criminal activity was also seized.
The man had no prior criminal record and maintained a “discreet” demeanor that allowed him to “conceal” his illicit drug-selling activities for some time.
The suspect was brought before the competent judicial authorities and was subjected to a weekly reporting requirement.
