He went to the “eat cake” tobacco shop and bought a scratch card. He left there with €100,000.

A regular customer of the newsstand ‘O Ardina’ in Cartaxo experienced a streak of good fortune. The woman, who was celebrating the 10th anniversary of the commercial establishment, decided to spend five euros on an Easter scratch card and won 100,000 euros.

“We are still in a festive mood as we share this 100,000€ prize. Today we celebrate doubly!” the newsstand highlighted in a social media post, where they also shared a photograph of the winning scratch card.

In an interview with Jornal de Notícias, Vera Silva, the owner of ‘O Ardina’, which marked its 10th anniversary on Thursday, recounted that the customer came in “to have a bit of cake” and “bought just one” scratch card.

The customer, who “buys scratch cards occasionally,” won 100,000 euros — the top prize — on a scratch card that was “unique in the entire country,” created specifically to commemorate Easter.

At the time, explained the proprietor, no one realized the amount since the machine does not reveal the sum when it is very high. “I don’t even know if the lady realized it; she was dumbfounded,” she added.
