“As you can see, today we are much worse off than when the PS was in office, and we are witnessing a degrading spectacle of various state structures pushing their responsibilities from one to another, from defense to health, from health to defense. There is a lack of a structured plan regarding hospital emergencies,” said José Luís Carneiro.
The Secretary-General of the PS, speaking to journalists in Lousada, Porto district, where he attended the presentation of Nelson Oliveira as a candidate for the City Hall in the local elections on October 12, anticipated that the topic of health and emergency services would be one of the issues brought to the State of the Nation debate.
“I want to say that this is one of the topics we will bring to the State of the Nation debate, but I will tell the Prime Minister that if the Government does not have the competence to present a response, the PS will present a response for the coordination of hospital emergencies,” he stated.
For José Luís Carneiro, what is happening in health “illustrates a severe lack of coordination between different state services and shows how serious it was for the Government to undermine a reform that was underway and adopted by the PS Government.”
“This Government broke with this ongoing reform, dismissed the head of the SNS executive structure, and moved forward with experimental measures,” he criticized.
