Heavy rainfall significantly impacted the municipalities of Odivelas and Loures on Saturday, leading to flooding incidents, including disruptions within the Lisbon Metro system.
According to the Fire Department in Odivelas, 34 incidents have been recorded as a result of the adverse weather conditions.
Numerous images have emerged on social media depicting the extent of flooding, particularly in areas such as Odivelas, Póvoa de Santo Adrião, and Ramada.
The intense downpour specifically between Senhor Roubado and Odivelas stations, for about an hour. The alert was issued at 3:58 PM.
Officials highlighted that flooding at the Odivelas station, caused by the heavy rain, prompted this suspension. Firefighters, alongside Lisbon Metro personnel, were actively working to address the situation.
Loures also experienced significant rainfall, with early reports indicating the onset of flooding in several areas.
