The IPMA has warned of the potential for “rain that may be occasionally heavy and persistent,” according to a statement.
Forecasts indicate generally very cloudy skies with light to moderate winds (up to 30 kilometers per hour), while air temperatures are expected to reach 27 degrees Celsius.
The institute anticipates “periods of rain or showers, which could be locally intense, especially on the southern slope and highlands of the island of Madeira.”
In IPMA terminology, a yellow warning is the least severe on a three-level scale and signifies “a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the weather conditions.”
The northern coast of Madeira, as well as the island of Porto Santo, currently have no warnings in effect.
