The Western group islands of Flores and Corvo will be under a yellow weather warning for “heavy rainfall, possibly accompanied by thunderstorms,” according to a statement from the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA). This alert is set from 8:00 p.m. local time (one hour less in Lisbon) on Tuesday until 5:00 p.m. local time on Wednesday.
In the Azores’ Central group, comprising the islands of Pico, Faial, São Jorge, Terceira, and Graciosa, the yellow warning will be in effect for the same reasons from 2:00 p.m. local time on Wednesday until 5:00 p.m. local time on Thursday.
A yellow warning, the least severe on a three-level scale, is issued by the IPMA when there is a risk to certain activities due to weather conditions.
