A 46-year-old foreign woman was arrested by the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) for allegedly attempting to commit qualified homicide against her 43-year-old Portuguese ex-partner.
According to a PJ statement, the former couple lived together for about eight years, and the “facts under investigation occurred in July of this year.”
The woman reportedly “hired” an acquaintance with a criminal record for similar offenses, asking him to kill her ex-partner, from whom she separated in April.
The suspect set “the terms, location, and day for the crime to be carried out.” However, the crime did not take place because the “hired” individual reported the plan to the woman’s ex-partner.
The PJ detained the woman after investigative efforts gathered sufficient evidence. She will be presented for an initial judicial hearing to determine pre-trial conditions.
