
The Portuguese Public Security Police (PSP), through the Traffic Accident Investigation Brigade of the Faro Traffic and Road Inspection Station, in collaboration with the National Republican Guard (GNR), “identified and charged” the alleged perpetrator of a hit-and-run incident that occurred on Avenida Cidade Hayward in Faro on October 27.
In a statement released to newsrooms on Thursday, November 6, the PSP highlighted that the investigation aimed “to determine the circumstances of the accident and ensure the accountability of its perpetrator“.
“The defendant was subjected to a Term of Identity and Residence (TIR) and is awaiting further judicial proceedings,” it emphasized.
The security force also stated that the hit-and-run “resulted in a victim in serious condition, currently admitted to the Intermediate Care Unit of the Algarve University Hospital Center (CHUA)”.
In the same note, the PSP “reaffirms its ongoing commitment to combating road crime and ensuring the safety of all citizens”.
“The swift identification of the perpetrator of this hit-and-run demonstrates the commitment and effectiveness of the security forces in ensuring that behaviors that endanger human life do not go unpunished,” it stressed.
