Holding MGP remembers António Mota as “an extraordinary man”

“The Mota family, in this moment of grief and mourning, pays tribute to the one who led them for decades in business development, building, together with his sisters, a business group in which MGP is the largest shareholder,” stated MGP in a release.

António Mota was described as an “honest, visionary, and committed man, dedicated both to his family and to Portugal,” emphasizing the Mota family’s and MGP’s commitment to continue his work and dedication.

“Engineer António Mota was an extraordinary man and a visionary entrepreneur, leaving an unparalleled legacy imbued with a humanistic and supportive spirit towards society,” it added.

MGP recalled that in recent decades, António Mota led the creation of a multinational group renowned for its engineering quality and a Portuguese economic group operating in multiple countries.

“A charismatic leader, visionary entrepreneur, and man of great humanity, engineer António Mota was an outstanding example of the ability to inspire teams, fostering close relationships and respect with the different generations that he welcomed within the company,” it highlighted.

According to information provided by Mota-Engil, the wake will be held at 10:30 on Monday at the Church of São Gonçalo in Amarante, followed by a mass at 15:00 at the same location. The body will then proceed to the family mausoleum in the city’s cemetery, from which António Mota hailed.

Trained in Civil Engineering, entrepreneur António Mota began his career in 1976 as an intern at the construction company founded by his father, which he expanded into a group with a presence on three continents, employing 52,000 workers.
