Holidays or trip home FlixBus with 12 new destinations here and Faro-Vigo route

The bus service FlixBus has expanded its domestic and international network, introducing a new route between Vigo and Faro, along with 12 new destinations across Portugal.

The German operator has announced new services reaching the municipalities of Lousada, Mealhada, Paços de Ferreira, São João da Madeira, Vila do Conde, and Vizela. Furthermore, the network now includes Torres Novas, Tomar, Abrantes, Esposende, Póvoa de Varzim, and Santa Maria da Feira.

Additionally, FlixBus will offer a direct line between Vigo and the Algarve, which is set to commence on June 23, with tickets already available for purchase.

What specific changes and when?

Médio Tejo

FlixBus will integrate the cities of Torres Novas, Tomar, and Abrantes into its domestic network starting June 10. There will be direct connections between these cities and Lisbon and Castelo Branco. The routes will include Torres Novas-Lisbon Oriente, Torres Novas-Tomar, Torres Novas-Abrantes, Tomar-Castelo Branco, Tomar-Santarém, and Lisbon-Abrantes, among others.

The service will initially offer “four daily connections, two in each direction.”

Moreover, the connections between Lisbon and Santarém are reinforced, “with new daily links between the capital and this city of Ribatejo” now available.

Center and North

Since May 26, FlixBus buses have started serving the cities of Vizela, Lousada, Paços de Ferreira, and Mealhada, now offering direct connections to Porto (Campanhã and Airport) and Coimbra. This new line provides “four daily connections, two in each direction.”

In the north of the country, FlixBus has expanded its reach to Esposende, Póvoa de Varzim, Vila do Conde, São João da Madeira, and Santa Maria da Feira. Since late May, these cities are part of the operator’s network, allowing direct connections between these locations and Barcelos or major urban centers like Porto or Coimbra. The new line begins with two daily connections, expected to be increased later this summer.

Algarve

Besides the direct line between Vigo and Faro, FlixBus also operates another line from the Algarve city. Since late May, it is possible to travel from Málaga, both the city and its airport, to Faro, with stops in Jerez de la Frontera and Marbella. There are “two trips daily, one in each direction.”

Alentejo Coast and Costa Vicentina

In response to increased demand for the region, FlixBus has enhanced its operations on the Alentejo Coast and Costa Vicentina. The line departs from Lisbon and now offers two daily connections to Sines, Vila Nova de Milfontes, Zambujeira do Mar, Odeceixe, and Aljezur. This frequency increase addresses the demand FlixBus experiences in this popular holiday destination among both Portuguese and tourists during this time of year.

Expanded connections from Lisbon to Ponte de Lima

FlixBus also noted that it has strengthened the connections between Lisbon and Ponte de Lima. Since the beginning of June, the Minho town features “six daily connections, three in each direction.”

It should be noted that only the Faro-Málaga line is seasonal, set to operate until the end of September. However, in a response, FlixBus explained that “depending on demand, it may be extended or continue to operate regularly.”

All other lines are permanent routes.
