
A horse was fatally struck by a vehicle on the Variant to National Road 105 (EN 105) in Santo Tirso late Sunday afternoon, according to police sources.
The incident happened after two horses escaped from a farm in Santo Tirso and entered the Variant to EN 105. One of the animals was hit by a car and succumbed to its injuries, while the other was injured, according to Jornal do Ave.
During the collision, one person in the vehicle sustained minor injuries and was transported to São João Hospital in Porto by the Tirsenses Volunteer Firefighters.
Traffic was restricted for approximately two hours, but it has since been restored, according to the local newspaper.

The alert was received at 6:20 PM. Along with the Tirsenses Volunteer Firefighters, the Santo Tirso Volunteer Firefighters, the Public Security Police (PSP), and the National Republican Guard (GNR) were present at the scene.
The GNR told Notícias ao Minuto that it was on-site “to assist,” with the case being under the responsibility of the PSP.
