The Casa da Arquitetura – Portuguese Center of Architecture will host the opening of the exhibit “Arquitetura Política Desenhada. A propósito de Manuel Correia Fernandes” on Saturday, alongside the launch of a book of the same name. The event will feature a speech by Portuguese architect Manuel Correia Fernandes, as announced in a press release by Casa da Arquitetura.
Saturday will also feature the official ceremony celebrating the 8th anniversary of Casa da Arquitetura, during which the title of Honorary Member 2025 will be bestowed upon Manuel Correia Fernandes, who was also a professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto until 2009.
Starting Friday, guided tours of the exhibitions “Kengo Kuma: Onomatopeia,” led by Miguel Rebelo, and “Arquitetura Política Desenhada. A propósito de Manuel Correia Fernandes” will be available. This latter exhibition, curated by Carlos Machado and Moura and Vítor Alves, will be open to the public until April 26, 2026.
Additionally, visitors can participate in activities such as the “Tea Ceremony” by Tomoko Higuchi, performances by Companhia Instável, and a Japanese percussion show.
The celebration will continue through Sunday, featuring workshops focusing on the appreciation of maritime objects and traditions, family and children’s workshops, immersive installations, poetry and music performances, a piano recital, and a presentation by ArquiCoro from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto.
Ongoing activities will include “architectural exploration backpacks” and the “Drawing Experience Room.”
Established in 2007, Casa da Arquitetura aims to promote and assert architecture both nationally and internationally. In 2017, it became the Portuguese Center of Architecture, located in the Real Vinícola Quarter in Matosinhos.
The institution’s mission is centered on the processing, archiving, and dissemination of various architectural instruments, collections, and archives donated or entrusted to its care.
