
The National Institute of Statistics (INE) released data today showing that the interest rate on contracts signed in the last three months decreased from 2.897% in July to 2.883% in August, marking an accumulated decrease of 149.7 basis points since the peak in October 2023.
For all contracts, the average monthly installment was 394 euros, the same as the previous month, but 10 euros (-2.5%) less than in August 2024.
Of the installment amount, 199 euros (51%) were allocated to interest payments and 195 euros (49%) to capital repayment.
In contracts signed over the last three months, the average installment increased by 16 euros, reaching 651 euros, reflecting a rise of 5.5% compared to the same month last year.
The average outstanding capital for all housing loans increased by 592 euros compared to June, reaching 72,862 euros.
For contracts signed in the last three months, the average outstanding amount was 161,321 euros, 1,768 euros more than in the three-month period ending in July.
