
The average total gross monthly salary per worker (per job) increased by 5.3% to 1,525 euros in the quarter ending in March 2025, compared to the same period in 2024, as reported by the National Statistics Institute (INE) this Friday.
The regular and base components of this remuneration rose by 5.4% and 5.1%, reaching 1,356 euros and 1,270 euros, respectively.
In real terms, considering the Consumer Price Index variation, the average total gross monthly salary increased by 2.9%, and its regular and base components rose by 3.1% and 2.8%, as stated in the report.
These results cover 4.7 million jobs, including contributors to Social Security and subscribers of Caixa Geral de Aposentações, marking a 2.3% increase from the same period in 2024.
Compared to March 2024, the average total gross monthly salary increased across nearly all analysis dimensions (economic activity, company size, institutional sector, technological intensity, and knowledge intensity), as indicated by the INE.
The largest increases were observed in the sectors of “Agriculture, animal production, hunting, forestry, and fishing” (section A; 7.9%), companies with 1 to 4 employees (6.5%), the public sector (6.3%), and “High-tech industrial” companies (6.8%).
