A 67-year-old woman has been placed in preventive detention after her partner was found bloodied and with “visible signs of aggression” in Arroios, Lisbon.
According to a statement issued Friday by the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the Public Security Police (Cometlis), the incident occurred on Monday.
“The police intervention took place following a report of a man showing visible signs of aggression and covered in blood,” the statement begins.
The authorities reported that the incident was disclosed in the afternoon, around 4:45 PM. “At the scene, a 62-year-old man was found with multiple lacerations on his body, apparently caused by his partner using a knife inside the residence they both occupy,” Cometlis detailed.
As further explained by the authorities, necessary measures were initiated, leading to the “interception of the woman with bloodstains compatible with the aggression.”
“During the operation, elements and evidence were collected at the residence that corroborate the reported facts. After she was informed of her arrest, all necessary actions, including seizures and forensic examinations, were carried out to ensure the preservation of evidence,” they added, noting that the woman was subsequently heard by competent authorities and was given the most severe measure, preventive detention.
