In a recent book presentation focusing on Francisco Sá Carneiro, Luís Montenegro took the opportunity to recall the absolute majority achieved by the party’s founder in 1980, and how Cavaco Silva, who was present in the audience, managed to transform a relative majority into an absolute one in 1987.
“I am convinced that this majority will also become greater because it will fulfill the capacity we need to combine financial stability with economic and social stability,” he remarked, emphasizing the importance of political stability.
Montenegro delivered his remarks following Cavaco Silva, who authored the preface for the seventh and final volume of the book on the party’s founder, aptly titled “A Greater Majority — 1980.”
