Ifthenpay’s turnover grows 27% to 7 million in 2024

The company announced today that the value of payments processed increased by 19% in 2024, exceeding 1.5 billion euros.

The number of entities subscribed to the fintech’s services grew by 10%, ending 2024 with 29,960 clients.

The company attributes these results to “the resilience and growth of e-commerce.”

In 2024, the recurring earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of the fintech based in Santa Maria da Feira — which plans to open a new headquarters in the same location soon — rose by 28% to 2.4 million euros.

For this year, the company anticipates a 25% increase in business volume, EBIT, and payment volume, reaching 8.9 million euros, 3.0 million euros, and 1.875 billion euros, respectively.

The strategy for 2025 is largely focused on internationalizing the business, as explained by Ifthenpay cofounders Nuno Breda and Filipe Moura during a press meeting in Lisbon.

With internationalization, the company executives expect their foreign products to account for 15% of the total business volume this year.

The main markets for this year are Spain and Croatia, with the cofounders acknowledging that joining the Payten group in October 2023 has contributed to their expansion.

In 2025, Ifthenpay aims to launch new products and technologies, including support for payments via Pix and, eventually, Bizum. While Pix, targeting consumers with accounts in Brazilian banks, currently sees “very minimal” use, the adoption of Bizum could bolster their entry into the Spanish market.

Ifthenpay is also working on implementing the EU’s Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) for the financial sector, though Filipe Moura noted some challenges as suppliers also need to comply with these regulations.

The company also announced its results up to March this year, reporting year-on-year increases of 25% in business volume (2.0 million euros), 26% in EBIT (approximately 700,000 euros), and 23% in payment volume, having already processed 480 million euros.
